A Christmas Carol
November 29-December 15, 2013
The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company (formerly known as The Steeple Players) is proud to present their next production for the holiday season. A musical setting for Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is a natural, and this holiday The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company’s production (based on the Broadway version) generously crams music into its quick spin through the venerable story. Scott Chevalier uses his musical pipes to bring to life, Ebenezer Scrooge, the man whose miserliness needs no introduction here. There's experienced musical-comedy talent in the cast, from small roles to large, with expert stuff from Emily Ernst as the ghost of Christmas Past, Sarah Hollis as the ghost of Christmas Present, and Elizabeth Turner as Ghost of Christmas Yet to Be. Rob Pitt returns to the stage and does deftly as the chain-rattling Jacob Marley's ghost. Alan Menken, the veteran tunesmith of Beauty and the Beast fame, contributes the music, with lyrics by Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime). The show is directed by Lynlea Keightley and Kym Sims and opens November 29th and runs through December 15th. Shows are on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00. A Christmas Carol opens the Friday after Thanksgiving with a Wine and Cheese reception for the opening night only. HPAC is located in the City Square Shopping Center at 260 West Main St. in Hendersonville. To make your reservations please visit the HPAC website at www.hpactn.com or call the theatre at 615-826-6037.

American Cancer Society
Needs Volunteer Drivers for Patients in Sumner County
Despite remarkable progress in the fight against cancer, there are many cancer patients today whose greatest challenge isn’t lack of treatment. It’s lack of transportation.
Right now, the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program needs volunteers from the Goodlettsville and Hendersonville areas to drive cancer patients to and from their treatments.
If you have a car and insurance, safe driving skills, and can drive as little as one morning or afternoon a month, you can give someone peace of mind and the chance to get to their potentially lifesaving treatments.
To volunteer, contact Katie Petersen, the Society’s local staff partner based in Nashville, at 615-341-7319 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Those needing transportation assistance or cancer information should contact the American Cancer Society 24 hours a day at 1-800-227-2345.
Road to Recovery ensures that patients have transportation when they need it the most. For these patients, our drivers are a lifeline. It’s a valuable service, but one that requires tremendous volunteer manpower, which means we’re always looking for new people. Some patients simply do not have a vehicle or may be too ill to drive. Family and friends can sometimes help provide transportation. At other times, a patient’s lack of transportation may prevent them from receiving potentially lifesaving cancer treatment. Road to Recovery reduces the burden felt by many patients and allows them to focus on getting well. Volunteers may drive as frequently as their schedules permit them to transport patients to and from area treatment centers.
