I Hate Hamlet
April 11 through 27, 2014
The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company (formerly the Steeple Players Theatre) is proud to present “I Hate Hamlet” by Paul Rudnick April 11th through April 27th at HPAC located at 260 West Main St, Suite 260 in Hendersonville. With this production, audiences are invited to witness this fast-paced comedy The New York Times has called “unapologetically silly” and “affectionately amusing.”   Andrew Rally, a successful television star who seems to have it all: a starring role in a hit television series, a rich and beautiful girlfriend, a glamorous agent; the perfect New York apartment and the chance to play the role of Hamlet in Central Park.  However, things are not always as they seem.  Andrew’s series has been cancelled; his girlfriend is clinging to her virtue with unyielding conviction; and, to make matters worse, he hates Hamlet.  The dilemma deepens with the entrance of John Barrymore’s ghost, who returns, intoxicated and in full Shakespearean costume, to his old home – Andrew’s “Perfect” New York apartment!   “I Hate Hamlet” will be presented April 11th through April 27th with performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 2:00.  There will not be a performance on Easter, Sunday, April 20th.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for children/students.  Special group rates are available for groups of 10 or more by calling the box office at 615-826-6037.  You may purchase tickets by calling the box office or by visiting the HPAC website at hpactn.com.

American Cancer Society Needs Volunteer Drivers for Patients in Sumner County
Despite remarkable progress in the fight against cancer, there are many cancer patients today whose greatest challenge isn’t lack of treatment. It’s lack of transportation.

Right now, the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program needs volunteers from the Goodlettsville and Hendersonville areas to drive cancer patients to and from their treatments.

If you have a car and insurance, safe driving skills, and can drive as little as one morning or afternoon a month, you can give someone peace of mind and the chance to get to their potentially lifesaving treatments.

To volunteer, contact Katie Petersen, the Society’s local staff partner based in Nashville, at 615-341-7319 or katie.petersen@cancer.org.

Those needing transportation assistance or cancer information should contact the American Cancer Society 24 hours a day at 1-800-227-2345.

Road to Recovery ensures that patients have transportation when they need it the most. For these patients, our drivers are a lifeline. It’s a valuable service, but one that requires tremendous volunteer manpower, which means we’re always looking for new people. Some patients simply do not have a vehicle or may be too ill to drive. Family and friends can sometimes help provide transportation. At other times, a patient’s lack of transportation may prevent them from receiving potentially lifesaving cancer treatment.   Road to Recovery reduces the burden felt by many patients and allows them to focus on getting well.  Volunteers may drive as frequently as their schedules permit them to transport patients to and from area treatment centers.
