Heaven Can Wait
May 31 - June 10, 2012
The Steeple Players Theatre presents “Heaven Can Wait." This classic play
tells the story of Joe Pendleton, a professional boxer and pilot who, when a
plane flight goes awry, has his soul pulled from his body before he has
died. In Heaven, Mr. Jordan, the chief angel, is forced to find him a new
body. He ends up in the form of a rich man recently murdered by his wife.
The hijinx begins when Joe, as Jonathan Farnsworth, falls for the lovely
Bette, reunites with his manager, Max, and avoids his "wife" Julia's
attacks. Meanwhile Jordan and his assistant 7013 struggle to keep Joe in
line and find him a body better suited for his habitation. This production
is full of laughs and fun with the sincerity and working man ethics of the
theater of the 1940s. The Steeple Players Theatre brings their customary
stamp of high production values, a strong cast, and innovative design to
bring this classic to life. Remade as a film by Warren Beatty in the 1970s,
Heaven Can Wait is a play that smiles while it asks questions about love,
destiny and free will. “Heaven Can Wait” runs May 31st through June 10th with
shows at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. on
Sundays. Adult ticket prices are $15, Senior Citizens $12, and Children and
Students are $10. Tickets may be purchased by visiting the Steeple Players
website at www.steepleplayers.org
or by call 615-826-6037. The Steeple Players Theatre is located at 260 West
Main Street in Hendersonville.

The Lakeshore Quilters, a local membership of the Tennessee Valley Quilt
Association, is a group of approximately 88 sewers that share their art and
talent on the second Monday of each month at the First United Methodist
Church in Hendersonville. Forty eight of these quilters gathered at a
recent retreat to make the Cathedral Star Quilt (shown in the picture),
taught by Karen Gibson. During the year, the quilters make pro bono quilts
for those in need of a touch of love and quilts for "Quilts of Valor"
donated to US Veterans. We meet for social time at 9 a.m. Our meeting
begins at 10:00 and lasts until 11:30 a.m. If anyone wants more information, please contact

Donors Choose is a national, non-profit organization designed to help teachers get needed supplies for their classrooms. Teachers submit proposals to Donors Choose, and Donors Choose reviews the requests and places them on their web site. At this point, any individual in the world can search the database for proposals they would like to fund in whole or in part. Once the project is fully funded, Donors Choose ships the requested supplies directly to the teacher. The teacher sends a thank-you letter [through Donors Choose] to the donor who completed the funding on his/her proposal. In addition, the teacher sends thank-you letters from each student along with photos of the class using the donated supplies. It's actually quite fun to see how this works! Donors Choose has just opened their program to teachers in Tennessee. We encourage teachers in Hendersonville and surrounding areas to submit proposals to Donors Choose! |
