German-Language Advent Service
December 20, 2015
St. Timothy Lutheran Church is pleased to announce a very special German Advent Service the fourth Sunday in Advent, December 20, 2015, at 3:00 pm. This is the ninth year the church has offered the service, and thousands have attended from all over the Middle-Tennessee region. The entire service will be in German; the bulletin will be printed in German and English so that non-German-speakers may also follow along. The service will begin with the lighting of the traditional Advent wreath, and will feature readings from the Luther Bible dating back to 1545. A brief devotion will be offered on the meaning of Advent and its symbols and traditions. Many beloved German Advent and Christmas hymns and songs are included in the service, some of which will be performed by the St. Timothy bell choir and adult choir, accompanied by piano, pipe organ and accordion. Songs include O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree), Vom Himmel Hoch (From Heaven Above), Es ist ein Ros’ Entsprungen (Lo How a Rose E’re Blooming), and of course Stille Nacht (Silent Night). All are invited to a reception following the service in the fellowship hall, featuring traditional Christstollen and other German baked goods. St. Timothy is located on Gallatin Road in Hendersonville across from the Holiday Inn at 650 East Main Street.
November 27 through December 13, 2015
The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company presents “Christmas Belles” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, the writers that brought many of the “Golden Girls” episodes. “Christmas Belles” will be running from November 27th through December 13th with a Wine and Cheese Reception for the opening night, Black Friday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. What better way to start off your Christmas season than with the Futrelle Sisters of Fayro, Texas. A church Christmas program spins hilariously out of control in this Southern farce about squabbling sisters, family secrets, a surly Santa, a vengeful sheep and a reluctant Elvis impersonator. Frankie is weeks overdue with her second set of twins. Twink, recently jilted and bitter about it, is in jail for inadvertently burning down half of the town. And hot-flash-suffering Honey Raye is desperately trying to keep the Tabernacle of the Lamb’s Christmas Program from spiraling into chaos. “Christmas Belles” is directed by Jill Dunlap and Kym Sims. Shows are on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. and will be held at the Hendersonville Performing Arts Company located in the City Square Shopping Center at 260 West Main St., Suite 204 in Hendersonville. Tickets are $18 for Adults and $15 for Seniors, Children and Students. You can make your reservations online at www.hpactn.com or by calling the theatre at 615-826-6037.
